HAPPY 1ST DECEMBER! I’m going to be honest, I’ve been celebrating Christmas since September, but at least now I can do it without being shouted at…
I asked on my instagram stories what sort of christmassy content anyone would like to see on my blog, and I loved all of the suggestions SO so much. So I decided to make my first post of December a list of things you can do to get into the festive spirit this christmas season (side note: if EVER you are struggling to feel festive, please speak to me! This lil elf has got your back.) For the rest of December I will be making my way down the list and sharing my experiences on my blog and on my instagram (coc0chanelblogs), so that I am spreading christmas spirit and inspo as much as I possibly can. I would love love love to see if you get up to anything on the list as well! Now let’s get ready for the most wonderful time of the year...and here’s how:
1. Visit a Christmas Market (or two, or three, or four or more…)
Visiting Christmas Markets is one of my very favourite things to do. Whether you pop down to a market after uni or work one evening, or if you dedicate a whole day to explore the stalls and trying all the tasty treats, you are sure to be feeling festive after a christmas market day. I will be sharing lots of photos of the markets I visit this year, including Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, Winter Wonderland Nottingham and Leeds Christkindelmarkt
2. Visit the Reindeer
One of my favorite memories as a child was visiting a garden centre that had reindeer, and I think it is a festive activity that will never ever get old! Although I haven't visited any reindeer yet this year, I have been to see some deer at Wollaton Hall which you can read about here.
3. Have a Christmas movie marathon
You cannot beat a good Christmas movie, any time and day of the week! A cold Sunday afternoon? Christmas movie. Bad day at work? Christmas movie. In fact you don’t even need an excuse...the answer to everything this season is CHRISTMAS MOVIES! I will be sharing a post soon with all of my favourite Christmas movies - and would love to hear your recommendations too!
4. Do some Christmas baking
Something that was suggested a few times on instagram was christmas baking, and that is something i am so so excited to do! My mum and I do a lot of baking on Christmas eve, but I will for sure be baking all throughout the season and sharing some of my favourite recipes and treats with you. Sanchez and I are even going to attempt a gingerbread house this year...good luck to us!
5. Christmas shopping
I absolutely adore choosing gifts that I think people will love, so Christmas shopping is always something I look forward to. If you have any unique gift ideas please do share them down below - it would be great to help each other out!
6. Make your own DIY Christmas gifts
Choosing gifts that people will love definitely does not mean they have to be bought from the shops. In fact, homemade presents often make some of the very best presents you can both give and receive! I will be sharing a post soon with some DIY gift ideas that you can make for the loved ones in your life..and I hope you will have a great festive time making them too!
7. Go on a garden centre tour
I know I know, I sound like I am 90, but you honestly cannot beat a good garden centre at Christmas time haha! Going around and looking at all the Christmas displays, buying cute little ornaments and having a nice hot chocolate in the cafe, going on a garden centre tour is a guaranteed way to get you into the festive spirit.
8. Gift Wrapping
Anyone who knows me will know that gift wrapping is one of my favorite things ever ever EVER! I find it so exciting choosing new designs each year, and am really looking forward to sharing my ideas with you this year as well. I am always looking for more presents to wrap purely for the enjoyment, so if anyone who knows me genuinely wants some presents wrapping PLEASE send them my way!
9. Deck the Halls
Okay, I can’t lie I have had my Christmas decorations up for a while now, but if you aren't feeling festive yet then you need to go ahead and DECK THE HALLS! Put a christmas movie or christmas music channel on, get dressed into your favourite christmas pyjamas, grab your tub of christmas chocolates and spend the day decorating your house. It really is so much fun and makes the house feel so cosy afterwards...win win!
10. Have a very merry Christmas ♡
And finally, the most important thing of all is to have a very merry Christmas. Although Christmas is portrayed as the most magical time of the year, it is so important to remember that for some people it can be a really difficult time. The best gift you can give this year is kindness - look out for one another, and let's all help each other in having the merriest Christmas possible. Sending lots of love and hugs to anyone who needs it right now, and I really do hope you can have a happy christmas this year ♡
Thank you so much for reading! I would absolutely love to see if you get involved with any of the ideas, and if you have anything to add please do share them in the comments below! Happy December everyone!
